Had a clunk on the front of my Picasso for a few months, tied it down to a top suspension mount bearing. Finally got around to doing it yesterday and what a nightmare, every bolt was seized solid,it took 20 minutes to remove one bolt holding the strut to the hub.We finally got it out and then had to remove the spring from the strut to replace the bearing, the spring compressors were attached and the spring compressed, came to remove the large nut holding the rod to the plate and it decided to unscrew from inside the strut! Now as well as a new bearing (£9) I needed a new strut (£35) boy was I peed off, still it was cheaper than the garage quote of £300.Been doing cars since I was a lad, well over 30 years ago and it's the first time I've ever had a strut unscrew from the bottom end,we live and learn.
