My front door gets full intense sun from mid afternoon and all evening but no rain at all, as is under a porch. I have just done the grey undercoat and it looks great - the matt finish shows off the stained glass in the door really well. Given it never gets water, does it matter what finish I have on the door? Can anyone advise a paint finish that will stand up to the intense sun. To be honest, the high gloss we had on before cracked in the sun and looked bad quickly. Or will all finishes behave the same?
I did mine in Dulux weathershield Trade about 6 years ago. Does now need another coat as it is a south facing.
Check out Sadolin 'Superdec' very flexable, will not crack or shrink etc. Available in a satin or gloss finish also no undercoat required. My advice would be to choose a pale colour as dark colours absorb heat rather than reflect it. Dulux Weathershield 3 part system is good although somewhat dated compared to the more up to date water based products which are excellent.
