If you must stick with oil, then it's been said above - ventilation and heat. Possibly - but the likes of Astra will hopefully confirm - you add add stuff like 'Flo-summat' to make paint more easy to use, and perhaps it'll aid drying too?

That's a good point, Mr Ha. Yep, oil paint needs to be able to dry evenly - if it forms an outer skin too quickly, I guess it could slow down the full curing.
