I have a single 6 foot wide electric roller garage door which is metal (lots of horizontal slats) and it came from factory pre finished with a textured coating (bit like leatherette) Over the years it has discolored and now ids a yellowish colour, want to paint it black which is the best way to go ? Coat of upvc primer/ coat of black solo gloss ? any veiws ?

Plastic coating on metal, yes very probable. two other explanations here are powder coating and stoved enamel. My choice here would be Dulux Super grip primer followed by the finish of your choice. Abrade the surface without breaking through the existing coating before applying your primer.

Bear in mind that black paint will not reflect sunlight only absorb it and could well result in the early breakdown of your paint.

    Potty.
