Pencil Test For Leaks

Hi All Quick Question..

There is a Brown water stain running down spare bedroom wall. I have fixed the problem. Drew a Pencil Mark along the Leak line..

I know if it goes pass the mark it means the problem is not fixed.

My Question is Should the Leak mark rescind from the pencil mark if it dries out or stay the same???
