Good evening Just taken on the job of painting 8 newly hung doors and surrounding woodwork. The doors are bare pine, door frames/stops/architraves are glossed, skirting is stained. Just wondered if http://www.screwfix.com/p/dulux-trade-trade-quick-drying-wood-primer-undercoat-white-2-5ltr/76061 would be suitable for both priming bare wood and undercoating the painted and stained wood. Also, any alternatives to Leyland Satinwood as it seems a pity to cover Dulux with Leyland.
I have used Zin 123, which is pretty good. Need one which seals knots if any in the woodwork. B-I-N look like the product to use.
You will need to seal all knots, Zinsser BIN will be fine to spot prime with, the Dulux QD primer u/coat will be a good choice for priming and also as an undercoat. You mention undercoating stained wood, if this is the case a couple of coats of BIN will seal any possible stain bleed that may occur, regarding the Leyland Satinwood can't see any problem really but if you have an issue with that why not use Dulux Trade QD Satinwood.
