Hi, when painting woodwork round the windows with eggshell paint when we go back over it with the brush, it seems to be lifting the paint off and looks patchy. The woodwork was originally gloss which was sanded and had 2 coats of leyland acrylic undercoat and we are using leyland trade acrylic eggshell. Any ideas what the problem is?

1,How long after are you 'going back over it' ....is it dry or still wet?
2, Eggshell paint is self undercoating.
3, Acrylic paint will struggle to dry on window frames at this time of year........too cold.

Still wet. If I go over a bit that's just been done like 10 seconds later to fix brushstrokes or something, it's coming off.

This sounds like an adhesion problem probably caused by not lightly abrading the acrylic undercoat prior to applying the eggshell?

Should I try sanding before giving it another coat?

Yes, use a fine grit or even wet & dry paper, synthetic bristle brush is recommended and stir the paint very well.
