Might be able to get it replaced FOC, if it's a lead pipe.

Is stopcock outside your property fully on?

Could fit a smaller tank & the have the pair in tandem, or fit a coffin tank.

After a visit Worcester Compact has suggested. Any views on Worcester Compact versus Valiant suggested here?

Valliant every time, easier to service.

Over engineered lump of metal, you need to be a Krypton Factor contestant just to get the case off.

FWIW I was told that because my pipes enter from the top it would be easy to use a Worcester Compact because there is space to extend the pipes down the back whereas this was not the case for the Valiant. The boiler is located in a small wall hanging cupboard in the kitchen.

    Complete rubbish.

Vaillant Spacer Frame 308650 allows pipes to be run up behind boiler. :)
