    Hi,

I had to replace this PRV today as the pressure was off the scale. I fitted the new one and it was showing 2.5 bar....but by the evening it had risen to 6 bar. How can this happen? I have not touched the adjuster, I want it to stay at 3. Any thoughts? I cant keep taking it back to the shop!!

    Thank you

Is it the boiler or unvented cylinder

I use it to manage the water pressure to the hot water heater - which is a sealed tank.

I have checked today that the PRV is suitable for the incoming pressure (up to 16 bar). I have cleaned it, and it is reading 3 bar again. It seems that the pressure increases in the evening - This is for a apartment in a block of flats, I wonder if this make an impact?

Sounds like a cheap PRV that doesn't work properly to me.

Is it adjustable? If so sounds as though it needs setting up to the pressure you want.

Where is the connection for the pressure gauge?
If it is after thevalve and before the cylinder, then as the cylinder heats up and the pressure increases. When the gauge is reading high, turn a hot tap, let it run for a couple of minutes, and does the pressure drop? You may not have a problem. Whilst new, these items are fairly reliable.

You may not have balanced supplies, it depends where the valve is,
