Quality radiator valves?

Couple of standard radiator valves have been leaking from the spindle since the radiator was installed. I have tried tightening the spindle nut initially and then the trick of removing the spindle nut and applying some PTFE tape around the spindle and tightening the nut but they are still leaking.

I guess they're probably cheap valves?

Which quality valves should I replace them with?

  2. Would go for Pegler.

More ptfe around the thread. 20 windings. If that leaks then 25 and so on. Be tidy with it. Guess you have a combination boiler and it's the pressure causing leak.

+1 they are good valves. Pegler terrier chrome wheelhead.

or you could get a trv for around the same cost, not pegler thou.

Ebay is a good place to look, often people selling off new surplus van stock.

  5. He is saying it is leaking from the stuffing gland.

Yup, I'm pretty sure it's leaking from the packing gland?

Can't use TRVs as it's the radiator nearest the thermostat. I would prefer lockshields as they are rarely adjusted.

Just had a look and Pegler seem really expensive now!
