Quote help for fireplace

    I have attached a photo of my living room, and another of how I want my fireplace.

    Currently the breast wall needs a brick length chased away from the left hand side to make the alcoves more symmetrical.

    Also the Fire place needs re-opening. It is plaster boarded currently and would need skimming on the inside.

    Any idea how much I should be budgeting for this building work? I live in Tyne and Wear.

    You say, as in your other post, that. you want to make the breast smaller, but you want it to look like the second pic, is that even possible, the side walls of the breast would be very thin, taking a lot of weight from above.

    Also in your other post you Said that, that was a lintel above the alcove, how are you going to support this if you take away some of the breast.
