Reasons why our country is screwed

I'm still all for leaving the EU but I've been thinking about other issues that have damaged our country.
When oil was discovered in the north sea,the government sold licences to extract it,these were bought by foreign company's,the profits from our oil went abroad.
The same thing has happened with gas,the goveernment are now encouraging the Chinese to invest in Britain now,ok we'll get things done but,the profits will ultimately go abroad. We now have the fracking issue, the government are saying we'll all get cheaper gas,but how? Lets forget the potential environmental issues, they are not relevant here, the issue is that again it will be foreign companies that will extract the gas,ok the gas will be used by us but ultimately the profits will go abroad.I think successive governments have been very shortsighted and have sold off the family silver.
Look at privatisation of the utilities,in a simplified form it went like this, Mrs thatcher decided to sell off the Water board, now ok it didn't produce fantastic money for the government but never the less it did produce something.
Now lets think of it like this, water brought in say 2 million a year,it was sold for 5 million and there was much back slapping and saying how good an idea selling it was.The only problem was that the following year we were 2 million down on our income, why?Oh yeah we sold the water board,ok lets sell the electric, that'll solve that problem. They sold the electric and true it solved the problem of the 2 million shortfall that year, the only problem was that this snowballed, they sold the gas, they sold the gpo,and so it went on,each time they had a shortfall they sold another utility to make up for the shortfall, the country was slowly being dragged down.
In the days of the British empire,we went all over the world and took the things we wanted from other countries,we only got involved in countries who had something we needed or wanted, now we're letting other countries put their money into our country, which ok in the short term may look good, but not in the long term.We need to sort things out, there's been a hell of a lot of mistakes made somewhere, and we need to start putting things right, somehow.

Political parties can only see as far as the next election. After that who gives a ****!

One problem today is it is not good enough to make a million profit two years in a row you must increase each year or you are seen as failing! Companies used to be owned by individuals or families and for example as long the high street department store paid the wages and costs, the boss got his nice fat cut (and hot secretary) and covered the outgoings with a reasonable profit things kept ticking over. Introduce shareholders and to hell with the company and staff they just want to screw every pound till the pips squeak!

Too late with many British industries.. We even now have to import gas and electricity from the continent to meet our needs. One only has to look at the stranglehold Putin has over the Ukraine's gas supply to imagine what havoc the French could play with our gas and leccy too (if they so desired)

This was Winston Churchill's idea was it not?
To have different countries owning other countries industries, therefore making it extremely unlikely for there ever to be any more wars.
War would seem to be unthinkable that another country would bomb another country if it owned half of it's industries (very clever plan Winston).

Government ownership of our industries in the late 60s/early 70s would now seem to have been nothing more than a Labour governments experiment with socialism (which sadly failed).

They were sold off to pay the debt that labour leaves every time they are in office.

The debt under the current government is massively higher and they have missed every target they have set themselves,

Its higher but have they created "more" debt than labour?
    Can't see it.

From the position they started from it was already on a downward spiral.

When someone runs a business into the ground the next owner has to weild the axe.

The ceo of a company I worked for once allowed his directors to much free reign and they filled the offices with over paid pen pushers. They nearly went bust.
They hated him when he paid most of them off. But he saved the company.

They were sold off (rather too cheaply) to the very people who had paid for them in the first place - the taxpayer, or in bulk to already rich people. Paying off Labour's debt? Are you quite insane? Have a look at this page, from the Daily Telegraph, in case you think I would only use a commie-rag. It has pictures, so even you should be able to understand it. But the gist of it is that our national debt has doubled since the Conservatives took office in 2010. I don't expect a quick reply, as the article uses some big words, so it might take you a while, but I would be interested (and possibly amused) to see your response.

One of your usual biased link so not worth reading.
Have the tories created more debt than the last labour government. The simple answer is NO.
    So even you can understand.

What we need is to set up about 84 1 BILLION pound industries (with housing)...all over the country to produce what Uk needs from local sources.
This would give local employment, no travel, (eco friendly), better quality of family life, less congestion on roads, reduced balance of payments deficit.
Civic pride ..to name a few benefits.

How can a quote from a traditionally Tory paper like the Daily Telegraph be biased? If the national debt has doubled, then YES.

I have encountered some deeply stupid people in my time, but you comfortably surpass all of them.
