trying to replace 45amp mcb [old shower] for a32amp [new oven]. type 1 bs3871 volex mcb's in unit. don't want to replace whole unit...
Just leave the 45a in there. The breaker is there to protect the cable so assuming the circuit is wired with a suitable cable there's no need to change the breaker, whether it's supplying a shower or a cooker is irrelevant.
hi seneca, old shower cable removed, want to wire in new oven 5.5kw was advised to connect to 32amp via 6mm cable [and dp isolation switch] by sparky on site [not domestic]
Type 1 mcbs are no longer made. Your looking at replacing the CU 'cos ya gotta RCD the new ctt anyway.
6.00mm cable will be ok with the 45a breaker provided the cable isn't going to be buried in insulation. Your oven will only be drawing 24a at the most.
don't want to fit my oven in the bathroom.... sorry, cable bedded in wall not in studwork and tried type b but doesn't line up with busbar..
