Replacement oven problem

Our built-under double oven/grill recently died. A local supplier has delivered a replacement for us.

On delivery it was noticed that the new appliance had no foot assembly. The supplier told us that we should remove the foot assembly from the out-going oven, fit a shelf to it and put the new oven onto that.

Apparently, it is now impossible to get floor standing built under ovens. :(

I am not happy with the thought of mounting a potentially hot oven straight onto a wooden shelf so can someone tell me if this is safe or not.

    Cheers

If it's been designed to fit into an oven housing unit then it should be quite safe sitting on a shelf. ;);)
