Sds bits in non sds drill?

Discussion in 'Tool Talk' started by major-eyeswater, Oct 25, 2015.

  1. I've got a Makita drill, does pretty much everything I need.
I've acquired some sds bits and am wondering if I can get an adapter to put an sds bit in a 'normal' drill.
I've looked, and cannot find anything...

    Cheers.

You can do it the other way. Just put your SDS bits in the chuck but it's missing the point.

sounds a bit pointless, cheaper just to buy normal shanked drill bits rather than the cost of an sds adaptor. Though I'm not sure if it can be done.

Great term "acquired" I often use it for things that I haven't purchased but found their way into my possession ;)

As Chippies says just put them in the chuck but make sure they are centred properly as they can go off centre doing it this way
