Security bolts - what type of tool required?

Discussion in 'Builders' Talk' started by Deleted member 33931, Jan 18, 2017.

  1. Hi all.

These are on a skylight cover on my bro's flat. Any idea what sort of tool is needed to remove them?

    Thanks.

    Security fixings.:)

Is the small hole recessed, they are similar to pig nose fixings.

Is it a hole or a ball bearing that's protruding? Pig nose are two hole, did a search and can't find anything that looks like these.

I said similar to pig nose, but forgot to 'add but only only single hole, not usual two holes', interupted by phone, timed out, & I then forgot.

And lack of info by OP...

No problem KIAB, I knew what you meant and wasn't trying to correct you...more to reinforce what you said :)

    Now about those hinges...:p

I don't know. I'm guessing that's an eccentric (I mean eccentric as in "off axis" not "smokes a pipe") hole.

    Something like this patented thing?

    No, me neither.

There seem to be a number of patents for screwdrivers and the like for them (assuming our interpretation of the image is correct and it is a hole).

I'd be interested to know how you get them out.

Make your own key, or drill the head off them work out how to remove the stud later?

...or is that a raised dimple?

  10. OP? OP?!!

I've been referred to as many things on this forum - including OaP - but neffer 'OP' before...

Anyhoo, thanks for trying, gents. Truth is, I don't know if they are dimples or sticky-out - they are phone photos sent by my bro earlier.

I think new skylights were fitted chust a few years ago, so they must be a tad more modern than early-20th century... :p

If that hole is eccentric, it's not by much! Hope they're not too tight :(

    Mr. HandyAndy - Really
