  1. I wish.

But it ain't gonna happen under Corbyn, I'm afraid.

I blame Ed for all this - what on earth possessed him to believe he was a better candidate than his bro?

David - the best PM we never had.

  8. I don't disagree with it, actually. Well, not with its essence.

Sharia law? You got to be kidding. There's only one law to follow - that's EU, er, I mean UK, law .

Should everyone in this country speak English? Yes - at least as far as the English speak Spanish in Spain .

The 'culture' thing is a bit more contentious. Everyone should adopt and accept British values such as decency, fair play, tolerance, lack of prejudice etc etc. I mean everyone. It would be nice if the indigenous Brits did this too...

But part of this tolerance and lack of prejudice we show to others is by inviting the best of other cultural influences to add to ours. I mean, should we get rid of 'Chinatown' in London? No? Good.

I would go further, even - I would ban schools segregated on religious grounds. I would remove charitable status from most religious organisations, unless it was absolutely clear they were acting 100% in a non-partisan way.

Why didn't you just make your point, Phil?! I mean, why didn't you just make your point? Why did you post it as a speech supposedly made by Putin, hardly the best example of human decency?

Or has he got something that the EU doesn't...?

I would like to say you might be surprised about Corbyn DA but no Labour candidate has much chance of becoming PM whilst the SNP has got Scotland in its grasp.
I think John Smith was the best PM we never had.

  11. What a rare fellow.

I recall driving down the A3 one morning on my way to school (to teach, not learn...). The news come over the air of his unexpected death.

Man, I had to blink real hard to clear my vision :(

Another thoroughly decent fellow was Donald Dewar. Another great loss before his time.

And then there was Robin Cook. Actually, he was a bit of a b*****d :). But a very able politician - a brilliant man. But flawed.

The usual suspects - with their cynical carping - will still say "They are all the same!"

Man, they just don't deserve what this country actually gives them.

We are getting everything taken away and you are letting it happen.
If we leave it any longer we will have NO ASSETS left to go it alone.
    The EU will OWN us.

    Wake up, sap.

  19. I don't agree with him. Why, what do you think?

He blames the EU's economic failure for the rise in fascism. I wonder why he doesn't blame the world-wide crash?

And, if you are going to have extreme right-wing governments in some of the EU countries, isn't it better to castrate them by having the EU as a whole keeping them in check? Rather than risk the individual countries - who are currently close - becoming at loggerheads with eachother.

It ain't a million miles from what 'itler tried to do...
