Hi, I've noticed quite a few tiled walls in showrooms and public toilets that have silicone in the
vertical corner joints instead of grout as used on the rest of the walls. Is there any specific reason for this or
just another way to finish the corner, or covering uneven cuttings perhaps with a silicone fillet!

Couple of reasons. Provides a better seal against water, and covers(as you say) the cut edge, where to cover with grout would mean grouting onto the glaze which will eventually wash off leaving possible cut edges showing, and a poor seal.

Silicone verticals first, leave then do horizontals :)

Thanks for the replies fellas, do you grout the corners first then add the silicone on top ?

No need to grout corner, just silicon as you want it to get well into the groove.

Use s silicone tool also. Gives a neater finish especially if you are new to it.

Can end up messy, and a tub of big wipes
