Silver wall

Discussion in 'Painters' Talk' started by Deleted member 164349, Feb 15, 2017.

  1. Got a customer that wants 1 wall in bedroom painted silver .

So simple question, what paint? Will it be grey not silver?

And then what, roller (type?) Or brush ?

There is aluminum paint, Rustins do one, & it will give you that brilliant silver color.

All the usual retailers sell silver emulsion paint

  4. Lots of specialist paints out there, even by the 'normal' co's like Crown.

I'd suggest using 'proper' stuff - that's been designed for cosmetic reasons, and not 'industrial'! :)

There is Crown Metallic Emulsion range available, Aspen silver is the colour, can get tester pots.

Quite a few interior designers are/were using aluminimum paint for the 'wow' effect on a wall, etc, would be too shiney for me.

But, there are now quite of range of metallic paints, look at Craig & Rose range, which are becoming more popular, in the USA metallic paints they are all the rage.

Just need to go to B&Q, Homebase even Wilkinsons sells silver paint in various guises

The main problem is that the paint will show up any defect in the wall and if it isn't applied consistently it will look very blotchy

Good argument for spraying it here I reckon.

Push the boundary, use silver leaf ;)

Failing that 3 in 1 foil.

Have seen silver wallpaper.........somewhere, search 'Wallpapers Direct'.
Just had a look on that sight, plenty on there.

  10. Whatever ends up being used, it's gonna look well tacky...

  11. Not my wall .

What really bothers me, is if it is not liked, how on earth to cover it afterwards. I hope wallpaper is chosen, be easier to change .

As long as I get paid etc
