Following on from barbecue yesterday. Cant beat the smell of a barbecue, or fresh bread, fresh ground coffee, fresh cut wood and grass, petrol (odd?) and Castrol R for those old enough to remember. What else ? A nice tame friendly thread for a change
All of the above except BBQ and petrol, Castrol R well now that is the dog's whatsits! I can add tarmac / roofing being freshly laid, pear drops and that smell of new carpet in a carpet store.
Tarmac, that reminds me of a funny incident prior to my retirement last year, working in the Facilities office of a large hospital, there was a new build being carried out on site and for a couple of days a heavy Tarmac smell was lingering in the air, I received an email from our IT department saying a terrible Tar smell was invading the building even though all the windows and doors had been shut, we have an heavily pregnant member of staff and would like to know who is responsible? Gave us quite a giggle
Bacon frying is hard to beat. Especially by a friendly customer in preparation of making you a sandwich to coax you "while you're here........." The fresh cut edge of reclaimed 100 year odd softwood, usually Douglas Fir. Rosemary and garlic potatoes in the oven. And for some reason Old Spice, thought I think that's psychological as my grandfather used to wear it when I was a doot.'
