My landing has been floored and Im expecting carpet to be laid next week on the stairs. How shall i get the top of stairs done. As you can see the wood has been left flush with the top step.

Only thing I can think of is cut back the wood 3 inches with my dremel then tac the carpet to stairs and cover with an aluminium z bar...

Personally, I would have run the carpet onto the landing all the way to the back wall, and had the carpet strip across the landing.

Not keen on change of footing right at stair edge!

That looks like a cock up and shows a lack of forethought.

    Something like this is needed.

No i thought it was best to run it flush as then it would leave every option open. I was thinking of using the same laminate flooring to do the risers and just carpet the steps but don't think that will work now.

All four bedrooms have been done with this wood and has been run right through to landing, very pleased with quality of work...

Would that be some sort of right angle threshold Phil?

Yes, might have to trim the bullnose of the top step to fit one.

Will that leave you with a top riser longer than the others?

That's always the case with a wooden floored landing though.

If you think I'm going to do a Handy and get into a long argument about terminology you're sadly mistaken. :p:p:p
