Went to service a Stelrad Ideal Elan 2 yesteday. Very tidy little old RS boiler with gas valve underneath fully accessible. The cylinder was installed literally RIGHT under the boiler. Called Stelrad for minimum clearances underneath - 220mm suggested for servicing. There didn't seem to be any way in to get at combustion chamber except by sliding down the glass panel on the front and this couldn't be done without this clearance (Stelrad guy did say this clearance more a recommendation than a must and could be reduced to 100mm, which it just about had been.) The customer doesn't remember having it serviced the whole time he's lived there and it must be about fifteen years old!
Anyone seen this boiler/scenario before? Thanks.

yea.. lift the glass up about 5 inches and ull need a long crossheaded screw driver.. to undo 2 screws .. its a bit like the ideal classic.
