I am fitting a utility room and have to put a washing machine next to a larder unit.

What's the best way to support the worktop over the washing machine? I have been thinking about cutting the larder unit decor end in half and sitting the worktop between the two halves? It's either that or brackets?

    Is there a better way?

A 2x1 bearer attached to larder unit.

If it is supported the other side of the w/m, the top is pretty much self supporting. 3 screws through from inside the larder unit - hidden fixing.

Thanks Chaps, I think i'll go with the screws from inside the larder unit.

Make sure you screw into the centre of the worktop, equal "meat" both sides of screw and drive em in straight

    Guessing a chipboard worktop ?

I would still put something underneath to support but that's me

As above, a baton, stretcher plates, furniture blocks, etc
