You only need earth one end if you are using a seperate conductor for the 'real' earth. But sometimes just as easy to do both. Clipped direct to a surface in "'free air'", 2.5 will carry a max of 28amp single phase and 25amp 3phase. Underground you should allow the same.

Yea CPW, read 523-05-01, refers to SINGLE CORE ARMOURS. We installed 4 x 400mm Single Core Alumnium Armours for a gen set, this reg applied to us then. But more multicores, it doesnt apply.

earth! Earth the supply end only if you are using a seperate core to earth the socket / garage at the end. Only one end needs earthing, most usually the supply end. Thats the end of it.
