the punishment should fit the crime, if you shoot, you should be shot, if you own or handle a gun,it should be assumed you intend to shoot, if you threaten or commit violence, you should be beaten, if you steal, all your belongings should be confiscated, when the government makes laws like these, the criminals will at least think before before offending,
the deterant of a cosy cell with sky T.V and 3 meals per day and medical treatment better than honest folks will not stop them,

oh yea, if they want to join a gang, make them join the army, they'll give them a gun there too,

  2. Tom, Tom, Tom...

So, in the states where they have capital punishment, there are no murders 'cos it's such a good deterrent...?

There is NO deterrent suitable for nutters.

    And no punishment strong enough.

    Mr. HandyAndy - Really

  4. "There is NO deterrent suitable for nutters."

DA, the trouble is that Americans are brought up with the culture that guns are the norm and they are superior to all others, the sooner they ban guns as a standard piece of home furnishing the better, but that ain't going to happen anytime soon, so the nutters will still be able to pick up a gun with his/her box of breakfast cereal

there's a whole bunch o reasons why in the states the murder rate is high, Americanisums is one, gun ownership is another, Americans have always had, and always will be a nation of gun totin' tirgger happy cowboys,Its in the heritage with a deep rooted sence of terratoryisum, anyone steps over their lines and its a shoot first ask names after, Just over the border in Canada gun ownership is just as high, but fewer murders and gun related crime take place, Most if not all American gangsters accept that if they get cornered there's gonna be a shoot out and there's a good chance they'll die there and then, Over here if a cop shoots a gangster that nice young lad becomes a hero and the cop becomes an under investigation for discharging his firearm into a local underprivaledged nice boy who just happen to have a gun in his possession by accident,

Tom, it's the same with the police, over there they will run you off the road if you try and get away, over here they let you go if there's any danger to you by them giving chase, our police wonder why no one repects them anymore

Thing is, when the founding fathers drew up the constitution of the USA, they included the line, "Everyone has the right to bear arms." This was actually mis-spelt. What they really meant was "Everyone has the right to bare arms." meaning they could walk around in t shirts. :p:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

  9. Snigger, JJ - that made me chortle :).

You are right, Phil - if our cops did some heavy-duty shootin' and runnin them yobbos off t'road a bit more, they'd get some proper respec'...

And then we can all vote UKIP and live happily ever after.

At no point did I mention police shooting, I don't want a armed police force, but we do need to get tough with people who do wrong, starting with proper sentences in the courts, we do tend to live in a country that will pursue a driver for a parking ticket and issue a ridiculous fine for said ticket, but mug/burgle somebody and get a slap in the wrist.

  11. I definitely think there are some occasions where armed police are required - for shooting Daily Mail readers, for instance.

That would make the world a much better place...

this is my view, remember it just my view.

If someone murder someone they should spend life in prison with very limited luxury but hard labour, much rather like the ones you see in the movies 'Chain Gang'. Limited luxury could be like 2 hours of TV per day, 2 hours of outside area (american call them yard).

Lesser crimes such as drugs should be hard labour and evening luxury only and so on. Minor crimes such as theft and shoplifting should be forced community work and tagged with curfew. Only downside to this is we are fast running out of spaces.

Life for a life is to most an easy way out of society such as terrorist bombers, so they could be seen as martyrs and for some this is unfair that they are not facing their time for what they done.
