Hi, We have replaced our old shower with a Triton 8.5kw shower this has been plumbed in on a 15mm flexible water pipe, the wiring side is running on a 10mm twin and earth cable with a 45amp fuse in the consumer unit. The shower works fine until we use another appliance, then it will trip the RCD this can be any from the kettle to hoover iron dishwasher and so on. We have checked the connections on all the points of the shower but nothing is standing out! Please has anyone got any advice before we call a spark in to take A look.
Afraid not. The leakage test is a live test using a clamp over the RCD or meter tails without disconnecting anything
Just another thought, when we turn the fuse off for you the shower. The rest of the power is fine ie the hoover and kettle washer and dishwasher will all work at the same time without tripping the RCD. So is it likely just to be a shower earth fault? Or is it still best to get the whole cu checked? Thanks for your help.
Checked by looking/wiggling or checked by tightening? Checked the pullcord switch for tight terminals? Mr. HandyAndy - Really
I checked them by wiggling them to seeing they are loose or free and they seemed good. Thanks for replying Mr HandyAndy.
