after laying an underfloor heating mat on top of insulation boards is it worth it or necessary to use a self levelling compound over the mat? not only to protect the mat before tiling but to give a smoother surface for the tiles to go down on

Being a tiler........it is something I ALWAYS do.

It makes it a possible to remove a tile (if Ness) It also helps disperse the heat, and yes, makes it easier to tile onto.

    Don't forget the probe.
