We are waiting to exchange contracts. We have signed ours but waiting for a Land Registry issue to be solved. Our property has 2 titles. Buyers want them merged into one. Now, buyers solicitor has gone away for a few weeks!

Anyone else waiting to complete etc on house sale / purchase?

Dunno about Land Registry problems with exchanging contracts, but, 5 years ago my dad had sold his house and bought a new one. on the day the exchanges were supposed to go through (August bank holiday weekend on the Friday) the removal company turned up at dads house, packed all his furniture etc and took it to the house he was moving into. Dad waited at his house for the phone call to say the money transfer had gone through. Around half past three in the afternoon his solicitor called.. Yep the money had been transferred through the banking system,,,, but unfortunately into the wrong bank account.:eek: His solicitor advised him, that under the circumstances the house move couldn't happen, so all his stuff was brought back to his house, whilst things with the bank and the money were sorted out. Being a bank holiday weekend and given the lateness of the transfers, nothing could be done until the following Tuesday, (the chap who was buying dad's house's solicitor had actually inputted one number incorrectly whilst doing the transfer, so his payment had actually gone into someone else's account over the weekend. Luckily it was sorted out on the Tuesday and the move went ahead on the Wednesday. My dad claimed the cost of 2 x removals (first one being wasted) and an amount for the inconvenience. Dad says he'll never move again in his life. ;););)
