Did your pva take hours to start drying?

Did the plaster start "tearing" when you was troweling up?

  3. I PVA the ceiling first, then take the scraper to it after 10 mins or so, this way I can tell if the paint underneath it needs to be scraped off, if it knackered overboard it mate

Why don't you just line paper the ceiling and fill and run down the joints
Plastering isn't as easy as people make out it takes years of experience.

No decent plasterer needs to use water it's all about prepping and keeping on top of it

  6. Depends on the sort of finish that you want, a res-kim is usually the best way to go about it but if you dont want to do that.. you could buy a belt sander and sand the hell out of it, fill any cracks and re-paint it
