Guess what appliance I have? Yep, a Hotpoint fridge/freezer.

And it does make the strangest noises you can imagine - tick-tock-tick - every 10 seconds or so, and then a long groaning sound every couple of days.

I'm used to the 'ticking' part - quite relaxing actually.

 

The tick-tock-tick every 10 seconds is no doubt as you say coming from the fridge.
The long groaning sound every couple of days is probably a number of us on here whenever you start a new thread.
