I am going to install some spot lighting in the living room. The Lytlec Fixed GU10 Chrome Fire Rated Downlights. http://www.screwfix.com/prods/23642/Lighting-Lamps/Internal-Lighting/Fire-Rated-Downlights/240V-Lighting/Lytlec-Fixed-GU10-Chrome-Fire-Rated-Downlights-Pack-of-10These run off the mains if I'm not mistaken.

Is it ok to use the Prysmian 6242Y 2-Core Grey 1.5mm² 50m Twin & Earth Cable http://www.screwfix.com/search.do;jsessionid=R0R2EHMHHTENGCSTHZOCFFA?_dyncharset=UTF-8&fhsearch=51381&searchbutton.x=0&searchbutton.y=0&searchbutton=submit

    Probably yes.

Although you don't say how many your fitting so maybe no. Depends how your connecting them together as well. There's more to this electricity stuff than you might think.

true, but he'd have to fit a hell of a lot to exceed the cable rating

I suggest it also depends on how this new length will be connected back to the CU, is that already 1.5 or 1.0? or is this a new circuit etc...
