What paint

Discussion in 'Painters' Talk' started by Deleted member 164349, May 21, 2017.

  1. Need to paint the eaves of a house. Typically they havent been touched for years so will need couple of coats at least.

What is the best recommended paint (white) for such areas and why? Ideally would like it to be able to be recoated within 24 hours if possible. Want long lasting stuff ideally, price isnt a real issue.

    Look at Bedec Barn Paint.

    http://www.bedec.co.uk/

Spend some time on the preparation, then the finish should last longer.

As above, brilliant paint. Picking some up this week to use over a previously creosoted fence, which Bedec claim will not cause an issue

No primer or undercoat needed, recoat in 4 hours and water based - unbeliavble !

White and black available in Semi Gloss, Matt, Satin

Shop around for best price, I'm paying £35 for 2.5lt (Essex)

    Go for it jack :)

I've not used this before, would it be suitable for previously oiled windows and doors?

Is that Bedec Multi Surface paint better then Sikkens Rubbol BL Satura Mr K?

The Multi Surface Paint is a different paint.

The above suggestion is for Barn Paint.

I agree, I got a small independent DIY shop near me, I always buy from them instead of the Sheds for stuff at home, often they are cheaper as well.:):)

    Hi Jp.

Is this sikkens any good. I have posted a thread as I am looking to paint door architraves and frames and looking for a god quality paint to provide durability and retain white for longer.

Must of got you mixed up with DIY Dave, as he had mentioned the Sikkens range of products as well.

    Thanks

As many of the pro window companies are using Teknos Aquatop I've tried it for my project http://www.teknos.com/en-GB/industrial-coatings/industrial-wood/cladding/ and it's really good. I've been spraying it but there are instructions for brushing. You can buy it online or over the phone. Weirdly they seem to have stopped pushing their brilliant white (Aquatop 2600 GB1000) on the website but you can still buy it on the phone. I've literally just ordered 3l + 3l of aquaprimer - £89 inc delivered - it ain't that cheap

I went for the Sikkens in classic white.

Will let you know when the painter tries it.

They didn't stock the 2.5l can of paint in classic white at decorating centre, but as a good will gesture they are sending out 3 x 1L cans.:)
