You won the lottery? I've never really been ambitious or money or success driven. I'm a bit dull and boring I suppose, I do tend to like the simple things in life nowadays. Books, nature, pottering around old towns, villages, the coast, love my telly, walks, food, my cheap plonk, big bubble baths, my bed I wonder what I'd do if I actually won the lotto I'd like to see more of the Greek islands, but only on holiday for a week at a time. I wouldn't want to live there. I would love one of those big motor homes to travel around Britain in that would be cool. I'd be a nightmare for every sob story going and I'd be skint within a fortnight if I didn't go anonymous so I'd keep it quiet. I'd have a country smallholding with chickens, goats, pigs awww I love pigs, donkeys and horses, I'd make my own bread and jam and sell it. A little allotment to grow veggies in. I'd have to have a gardener though coz everything I grow either dies or gets eaten by slugs and birds. I could have my own bees make honey! I would love my own swimming pool. Ooooh yeah, nice. What would you lot do? We need a happy thread full of dreams Wouldn't it be lovely though eh? You can join in too Pete would you still be at screwfix? Or would you leave us all behind? I think Dev would still stay. Who else would stay on the forum? I'm not sure about me, I'd be too busy on my little farm probably, but yeah I'd pop in. Might win tonight one of us.
I'd have one of those Agas. A really big beast of an Aga with lots of those cast iron pots and pans. I used to have a Rayburn, a green one, I miss it lots Oh and I want one of those humungus inglenook fireplaces, my last horsey lady had one, the closest I got to it was cleaning it wouldn't that be lovely at Xmas though with all those little iron tools at one end and a big basket of logs at the other. Bliss! A few carols playing softly in the background, warm mulled wine, homemade mince pies. Especially after coming in from the bitter cold after putting all the animals to bed I reckon I'd have those posh feather duvets too and pillows.
I couldn't get and wouldn't get rid of my little car though its part of the family! It would have to be the yard car, it needs a purpose, it could be errrm well it could ferry the animal feed around let's face it the driveway alone will be two mile long, since I'm soooo rich by this point I could employ a little minion to drive it around the estate/ smallholding. I could get used to this
And I want one of those dovehouses. I love doves. Oooh and a big lake for the swans coz I really like them too. Did you know that when swans choose their mate they stay with them, like forever and forever like a proper little family. I used to love watching the swans at Shoreham. I wouldn't want to mess with one though they get all irate over next to nothing. Scary birds. Nice from a distance. Then I'd have to fill the lakes full of ducks. Which means eggs and meat you gotta know how to cook duck, which I do
All depends on how much I won. If it was just a couple of million, I'd have a couple of weeks off work whilst deciding what to do with that amount. I'd reckon about half of it would go on family and a nice house and furniture, car, etc . Leaving 1 million to invest for an income. However , if I won a fantastic amount (think quadruple, or more, Euromillions lottery rollover) , I'd immediately retire, whilst considering what good I could do with that amount. One thing top of the list would be to make a hefty donation to my current employers. Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. (yes I'd want a ward named after me)
Sounds good you deserve it more than most JJ. I hope you get it. Mine would go to a few select teenagers, I'd have a sanctuary at my little farm for them. Like a little foster home. They'd have to have a drugs test first though. I wouldn't want non of that carp. I'm very judgemental drink and smoke (me) but no hard drugs thank you. What a very strange mentality I have Never mind. Tis what is.
I think I would spend the money to renovate and restore the house, this has always been a thing i wanted to do. Any green spaces in areas would be used to create some inspiration gardening, some apple tree, pear trees. People would be able to freely pick the fruit. That's what I would be happy doing.
That's good to hear, Miss Roamerhome I know it was always all about your daughter for you - and really pleased it's paying off. Very best wishes for your next move (Nicely 'captured', Chips )
How come Misss Roamerhome has her messages hidden Worked hard today, went to sleep around 630pm, just woke up thought I'd sleep over 24hours and couldn't believe its only 850pm?? strange or what....
I was in a lottery syndicate of 22 people each paying £2 a week for 11 years and we only ever won the odd £10 between all of us. When we worked out how much we'd wasted we disbanded the syndicate and I've never bought a ticket since, some formed a smaller syndicate and still enjoy throwing their money away. Gambling's a mugs game unless you're the lottery owner, a bookie or a casino owner.
And the lottery in particular is a tax on the poorest and least educated. How ironic that a lot of it has gone on our Olympic team (overall, I approve, tho'), the vast majority of whom come from privileged backgrounds and public schools (where they treat sports more seriously). I knew from the start that I wouldn't buy a ticket simply because of the crazy odds. This has been reinforced over the years whenever I'm in my local Post Office or shop and see the people who queue up to buy them, along with scratch cards. They are scratching off the cards before they even leave the shop, and then you see their shoulders slump at another loss. It's actually heart-breaking.
