Hey guys, I'm a total newbie here, so bear with me.
This is a new home build and the floor of the bathroom is concrete. Hubby just completed the shower floor now ready to tile. It's going to be walk in. He wants to know what type of board will the tile be placed onto, right now it's just greenboard(two walls and open ended if that makes sense) Tell me if we are in the right direction. Thanks.PS I can send pics

I suspect the experts will recommend 6mm hardibacker.

  3. Why does he not tile straight onto screed/concrete.

I wondered that but it appears he's already boarded out.

Sounds like the shower tray has a false wall either side to me.

I'm having 18mm wbp on the studding and finished with pvc at the minute in an ensuite. Builder in tomorrow tracking floors, plumbers Monday doing first fix, floor screeded on Tuesday, floor tiler and siimming team on Wednesday and pvc installer Thursday or Friday. Then electrician and plumber back next Monday to finish 2nd fix and carpenters to lay new wood floor in bedroom and then decorators. Job done.

And hang all new oak doors and renew trim down stairs. Then a new pvc front door.

Just an idea where this is going, he plans on putting on the concrete board then attaching tiles afterwards. There will be two glass walls, with it being walk in once the tiles are down and in place. The tiles you see aren't attached he's just working on how to lay them.

Tile straight on to the concrete.

Surely that drain should have been higher so flush when tiled???

Are you asking what to line the wall with before tiling? What's that wall you're pointing at made of? Plasterboard?
Agree with Phil re the waste - looks like it will need raised.
