When can I paint newly plastered ceilings?

I've recently had my living room and bathroom ceilings plastered.
How long should I leave them to dry before painting them?
Also, do I need to seal them with anything before using white ceiling paint?
    Thank you!

You should be able to see when the plaster is dry, but indoors in a heated room 3 days should be plenty of time.

Paint the first coat with a mist coat, 60% paint mixed with 40% water, allow this to dry overnight and then two coatsof normal paint should be fine.

    2 coats.......my butt.

Have got to paint all my ceilings downstairs, all newly plastered.

Mist coat, then 2 coats........and they STILL need another coat. As for the coving, they are going to need another 2 coats.

Jeez......I really don't know how you painters can do this, day in...day out.

    I'm bored shitless.

Not what it used to be, I use Dulux Supermat over new plaster.
