... and burned your skin if it splashed you I'm trying to remove layers of paint and varnish from internal doors. So far I've tried nitromores, and B&Q own brand stripper .. oh and a palm sander and it's taking an age. Nitromores used to bubble paint in one easy pass not anymore ... anyone recommend a proper paint stripper. Ta
Nitromores is carp now, as is a lot of the water base stripper. Dichloromethane (Methylene Chloride) based stripper, is only available to pro's now sadly, could get it off Ebay. Paramose Professional Paint Stripper is what I use, your suppose to fill in Industrial User Form to get it now.
I see Langlow Strip Away Pro Paint & Varnish Remover is a Dichloromethane based stripper & they make no mention of the form required. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PAINT-STR...012239?hash=item4b07005fcf:g:AroAAOSwZVlXvsqZ
Yeah wet fish has never been any use as a paint stripper. A painting contractor also mentioned paramose
Make sure you wear eye proctection when using it,& ideally strip the doors outside, or have plenty of ventilation using Langlow. As Dichloromethane isn't particularly good for you.
Yeah will do Have you used the langlow stuff ? I usualy avoid products that say "pro" as invariably they are anything but. The safety wArnings put out with the langlow stuff lead me to believe it may actually be effective as a paint stripper. I'll do a side by side comparison with the B&Q stuff. Watch this space.
Not yet, got a can here to strip some metal garden funiture, usually used Paramose, but my source for that has dried up. See this linky, has data sheets. http://palacechemicals.co.uk/shop/strip-away-pro-copy/ Reading data sheet, I would use this outside.
Find a company that will dip the doors in a heated caustic tank, far quicker and cheaper than fluffing around.
Been a long time since someone mentioned dipping doors for a long time. Used to be all the fashion 10 + years ago
Way too long soaking in in a cold tank! you only want to strip the paint from the door not wreck it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ordered the langlow easy strip pro yesterday and it arrived this morning ... set to work on An old door over 40 years old and as many layers of paint ! Bloody hell this stuff is good ... proper old school gear
Yes, very happy with it. Thanks for the heads up Works out at £4.50 ltr compared with the "leading brand" at over £10.00 ltr Further more it actually does what it says on the tin
