Hi I am going to switch from oil to natural gas heating soon and am looking for combi boiler recommendations. It will be positioned on the top floor of a 3 storey semi-detached house. There's an ensuite on the top floor (shower boosted with hot water pump) bathroom 1st floor (shower over bath). and WC and kitchen on ground floor. 16 odd rads around the house. I want to install a reliable unit with the capacity to handle this comfortably. I was looking at a Vaillant Ecotec 32 I think it was ages ago. I just looked at a website that suggested a "Potterton Titanium 40 (ErP" Anyone give an opinion on the 2 here or give a steer as to what i would be best looking at? Thanks
Copy & paste saved me typing it. System boiler with unvented cylinder might be an option, would boost shower flow, & you could then remove the pump on one shower.
Exactly DA! You nailed my thoughts! The cold water supply to the 2nd floor (GF, 1F 2F) is mains. I had a new mains put in and old lead pipe removed last year. I cants see water pressure being and issue. Now, DA tell me those combis! I don't know much about combis but my last bit of research about 5 years ago lead me to Vaillant as being the best, but it was a bit pricier than others. Im wondering if im overlooking good performing other brands thqt may be cost effective too
My preferred system would be: removed CWST, HWC, Shower pump and get good combi to sort everything out, or connect the neg head hw shower pump if needs be
Vaillant new Ecotec Green iQ843 is towards the higher price end, but it's a darn nice combi, has good flow rat of up to 17.8 ltrs a minute,& it's compatible with Vaillant’s vSMART, so can control with smart phone. https://www.vaillant.co.uk/homeowners/products/ecotec-exclusive-green-iq-835-843-24448.html https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&ved=0ahUKEwjRlIG1-ZrVAhXBIcAKHUQ6BC8QFghvMAE&url=https://www.vaillant.co.uk/downloads/case-studies-1/10614038-exclusive-6pp-852185.pdf&usg=AFQjCNEANMS03u5u2XxmY85LmKkFPIwI5A
Vailiant EcoFIT Pure 835 would be worth you looking at, As discussed with a previous Poster Go on the Vaillant web site abd look for a Vaillant advance installer who con offer you a longer warranty than any old gas safe installer.
Vaillant have done their homewrk with this combi, looks well designed & thought out. And a linky: https://www.vaillant.co.uk/homeowners/products/ecofit-pure-combination-boiler-26176.html
Recommendations? Er, um...uh... I dunno However, I am intrigued by the Intergas models. Far fewer moving parts. They've surely been out for long enough now to have proved themselves - or not?
