i tiled my shower room a few years back with a natural black slate tile. I had a lodger so I never really went in that room, when he moved out I noticed a white patch infornt of the toilet where he'd missed over and over, also where the floor towel was outside the shower, I've tried loads of things to try and remove it, latest idea off the Internet was washing soda and wire wool. Still the same tho any help would be appreciated, I'll try and post a picture

I've got a slate hearth on my fire, it goes white if i drop vinegar from cleaning the glass. I keep mine black using boiled linseed oil, the downside for you is you might need to do the whole floor. You could also try some WD40, that's what the fitter used to give it it's initial protection, but obviously not too much / too big an area first
