The only thing I can see is that the 'time switch' will not be useable. So you will have to manually switch o the immersion heater on and off.
Could you not get an electric towel radiator, they are about 150W? As the install is within a bathroom it will need to go in the required zones, can someone confirm?
The changeover switch I've ordered is linked in my previous post and is like the one you suggested. The switch won't be wired directly to the appliances of course. I will have position 1 for immersion, via the timer, and position 2 will be the heater via a 13a FCU. It will be left in position 1 when the heaters not in use. The timers got a backup battery so it doesn't lose it's settings
I checked with their technical department mano e mano so I am assuming the info is correct. (unless I see further and better particulars or have an opportunity to inspect the item physically) Can you see it now ? RS
It's great doing stuff for yourself innit! I can just imagine a customer's reaction if I said I can't be a***d to run a new circuit so here's a whoppin' gert changeover switch for you instead. Oh and by the way, you can have hot water or a hot bathroom but not both!
Well the customer could take it or leave it. Yes you can have both, just not turned on at the same time!
Well no. And if the pic from Jitender is anything to go by, I see only one single connection being made for each switch number/position. Mr. HandyAndy - Really
I note the description in the link states "earth and neutral terminals included" which does make you wonder if these only switch the line. The diagram they sent Jit is a bit of an Ikea job (minus the little man!) and its not clear (to me) if that is referring to a single action of the switch (and therefore isolating both line conductors) or for both positions and only switching the line conductor. Not sure if i explained that too well.
The image as shown would lead me to believe it is will change both poles. Altho I would prefer the poles to be linked with these (- - - - - - ) as is customary to indicate a linked mechanical action. I shall look forward to the OP getting the switch and physically checking the action...and reporting back post haste.
