Just about at the end of my giant tub of Ronseal high performance wood filler.

Anybody found an alternative product that's worth investigating ?

Yes my works that good, I need a thick heavy filler to cover it. bar steward to get of your hands afterward though. :(:(:(

I find Everbuild 2 part high performance wood filler to be very good and covers a great deal for the size of the tin, although at times the amount of hardener can be tight. Also, available in a range of colours.

Thanks I will have a look at them.

The Ronseal stuff is good but I have always found the working time very short. Filling the old dowel holes in the pine boards I have working on is tedious enough and racing to get the stuff applied before it goes off doesn't add to the joy - neither does the fumes.

Pretty much exactly the same as the ronseal but slightly cheaper

It comes with the hardener in a easier to use little tube rather than the pouch style of ronseal which I find always loses it's lid as some point. it unfortunately has all the downsides to the ronseal though of short working times and fumes (it is epoxy after all) but saves you a few quid.

+1 on the Screwfix stuff however I haven't used the Ronseal so cannot say it's any better. I tend to use it most when I need a quick result so that suits me.

If you need a longer working time put less hardener in, it will still go off but slower. Temperature also affects setting time, the warmer the quicker.
