I need to make up c.30mm of height on one side so....can I split down an engineering brick to 20mm giving me 30mm (with mortar)? or is it more acceptable/better to shim it up to that height with slate and infill with stiff mix?

I have one of those Ring doorbells (specifically Ring 2) and was curious how difficult it would be to hard wire it.

From what I can see my consumer unit is maxed out and there is no space for any additional transformers.

I can run the wire from the bell to the consumer unit myself and buy the correct transformer to get the 12v which I think it needs but would an electrician be able to wire up the transformer even though there is no space in the actual box?
