front discs and pads on my van last week, thought i'd have a look at the rears this weekend, do you think i need new pads.
Customer - "Ah, here comes the paving cove now!" Ssssscccreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaawwwoooooooooohhhhh.... "Ok, he might stop next time round..."
A couple of years back our Zaffie (now gorn to a new home... ) started making a high-pitched squealing sound almost all the time when on the move. Being clued-up an all tha', I suspected the brake warning depth thingies so checked the front discs - 'cos we all know that front discs wear much faster than rears. They were fine. So the squeal continued for many a week afterwards. Only to be replaced by a more serious scuffing/graunching noise when braking. Miffed, I checked the rears. Hmmm - that's some seriously deep grooves in that rear disc from metal to metal contact...
Yes very happy, it's an old 1997 model, I've had it for 10 years and in all that time it's only needed a new radiator and one ball joint and general servicing, though as you can see by the brake pads, I wasn't on the ball with that as often as I should have been.
Spent £300+ getting through MOT, passed on Tuesday, yesterday the cam belt snapped, snapping the camshaft clean in two, one knackered engine so off to the scrapyard. Gutted.com.
