    Hello,
Anyone have any tips about where I should purchase Oak Beams for around my fireplace. I've found one or two places online, but I thought I would ask on here for some tips.
    Looking for Beams 150mm x 250 x 1800mm. I require 3 at that lengths.

Local salvage yards often have a lot of them - especially if you want "character"

I'm in Scotland, usually everything I get like that comes south of the Border.

By and large deciduous broad leaved trees will be found south of the border. You need a working sawmill and a few of our English pounds. Roof rack and some rope and you'll have them home in no time.

You can use 2nd hand oak beams but be careful of steel, grit and other foreign objects. New green oak is easier to work and can be distressed with a ball pein hammer, an adze and a draw knife.

    Good luck.
