wickes do some no7 size screws. in general though i don't use the screws that come with fittings as they are often fairly weak things.
Call yourself a carpenter, and you never realised this? Your stupidity never fails to amaze me. Mr. HandyAndy - Really
Here we go again lads ..... handbags at the ready .......countersink in hand ......light blue touch paper and off you go ......
Countersunk vs double-countersunk vs bugle etc http://www.timco.co.uk/screw-types Pfffft. Call yourself a carpenter? Mr. HandyAndy - Really
I know what the differences are, are you saying a double countersunk or a bugle head would fit in a hole that was cut for a standard countersink better? Now hush your mouth and don't try and play with the big boys, it will only end in tears.
Yes. You can see that if a shallow countersink has been drilled, a double-countersunk screw may not match the recess, and therefore stand proud of the surface, for example. And other examples are obvious. Common sense to someone with common sense. There is no arguing it. Square peg/round hole situation. Some law or other. Mr. HandyAndy - Really
Nope. Different countersunk screws will fit better in different countersunk hole(metal). You need to see a doctor. Probably a gynaecologist. He treats members like you everyday. Mr. HandyAndy - Really
Did you not look at the site I linked to? Can you not see that a countersunk hole for single-countersunk screw will not allow a double-countersunk screw to fit flush? Can you not see that the countersink angle is different? It's not deep enough and the angle is shallower. Are you blind? Or stupid!(rhetorical) Mr. HandyAndy - Really
You are the only person who mentioned that a double countersink or a bugle could be a solution rather than making the problem worse, go back, look at what you posted and then feel your testicles shrivel up in embarassment.
A bugle would suit all countersunk holes. It overcomes the angle problem. I may have got the original double/single round the wrong way, but certainly without doubt, different countersinks will fit different countersunk holes. That can be a solution. You still need to see that doctor, for absolute confirmation of your status. Mr. HandyAndy - Really
All countersink holes are the same angle and all woodscrews are made to that angle, the size of the head is what changes with the gauge. BTW the tip profile makes no difference. So what this comes down to is that you have no idea what you are talking about but as usual this doesn't stop you spouting off and making an idiot of yourself, are you related to Donald J Trump?
I know one thing. You show me a countersunk hole, and I'll show you two screws of the same size(but different countersink type), one which will sit flush and one which won't. If they were all the same angle, they all would fit. But they don't. Mr. HandyAndy - Really
Yes a double countersink or a bugle head won't fit but only a stupid person would suggest that because that isn't what they are for. Now what was your solution I wonder
