I've added a video, although its not my model it shows what happens, I think there is also is also a leak somewhere. Over 2 years old so out of warranty.

I've got a Karcher and had this problem... think was down to lack of good water supply and possibly air in the system.

It was ok for about 11/2 years, then stared doing this.

    Water supply is good.

I think some video say the cylinder seals need replacing which may explain the leak.

Sorry I watched it again with the volume up, slightly different to what I thought. Reckon its caused by there being the smallest of water flow when the things turned off...having a leak would explain it! Do you know where the leak is? If its after the pump, that would cause it.

Look like it was coming from the inlet but not sure, tightened up the tap connector on the unit.

Very annoying when not in constantly in use.

    Let me guess...petrol pressure washer?

  9. For bigger real pressure washers they are amongst the best.

But for cheap units, you get a unit built to a price. As with all tools.

I had the same issue with my K5. I took it to a Karcher 'specialist' shop in Watford.

The fella changed the 'cylinder head'. Cost me £40, but that was also his time fitting it.

They are good pieces of kit, I have a 16 year old one still going here, only brought the K5 as it had more pressure. That and it was on offer at Costco...

Karcher build quailty & reliabilty 16 years ago was far better then, than it is today.
I'm presently use Nilfisk, never had a leak or problem with mine.

Going to have a look i the weekend.

The previous video I uploaded says. if pressure washer is left out in winter then it could freeze.

Always squirt the trigger after use but may not get all water out of the unit.

It is, there is still parts available for my old one too, which is brilliant. The hose didn't last, but they still use the same 'push and twist' connection that they used all those years ago.

Where do you store it? I have left both mine out in the van over winter months and I've never had issues.

The hose is always drained, but the washer itself isn't.

Its stored outside in the shed.

Mine stay in the cellar when I don't use them, I have had a hose split due to frozen water in it, but no damage to the unit.

It may be worth trying on a different water supply - any friends or family houses you can test it at?

Tried it at 2 different places with the same syptom.

Water pressure here is much higher.

Have you checked the mesh filter on the inlet? When I had a problem it was the smallest bit of dirt in the filter fished it out and washed it under the tap and it was ok.

Modern Karchers have a very limited lifetime and somewhere near 50 hours use. I think it was based on 2 car washes per month over an 18 month.

I moved to Nilfisk until it was nicked and now have Makita.
