I just use a molybdenum disulphide grease,Castrol Moly Grease in fact, it works better under extreme load & copes with heat. http://vieffelubrificanti.it/schede_tecniche/MOLY_GREASE.pdf
You can buy a very small tube marketed by Makita but to be honest it's just ordinary grease and a big tube is much cheaper, you need a pea sized blob on the end of the bit, about once a week if you use it every da http://www.screwfix.com/p/multipurpose-grease-400ml/8436p this is the "proper stuff" look at the price, virtually the same grease. http://www.screwfix.com/p/makita-p-08361-sds-hammer-grease-30g/98044
Total rip off what Bosch,Makita charge for a 30gram tube of grease. Been using Castrol Moly Grease for years on my Bosch.
Yes just don't put too much in,otherwise it splashes everywhere when you run the machine, not good if you're working near white walls at the time.
Grease on sds bits tips, never done it in 30 years, the only grease I apply is when I remove the chuck from drill, just a spot there to lubricate hammer spindle (sliding action in the chuck). And occasionally grease to base of a sds chisel, & sometimes a bit. http://community.screwfix.com/threads/sds-drill-lube.8280/
By tip I meant the end that goes into the drill, not cutting tip, sorry.I always tell people to put it on the end rather than just ramming it down the chuck, stops them putting too much in.
Thinking of replacing the lead or adding a connector. Very awkward sanding sanding wall and ceiling, dont know why they couldn't have put an extra meter or so of lead on it.
I have cut off the pre mould plug on my 220v tools & fit 16A blug plugs, & have a selection of extension leads using the blue 16A 1.5mm arctic cable of various lengths 2.5mtrs, 5mtrs,10 mtrs & 20mtrs on a reel with the blue sockets & 3 pin plug other end, covers most my uses around the house, garden. And a couple of these made up come in handy for some smaller power tools & soldering irons.
Had one of these for a few years now http://www.screwfix.com/p/makita-hr...0v/79920#product_additional_details_container Good bit of kit and the supplied bits still going strong Even abused it with 110mm core drills
I have an extension reel, but is very annoying when i have to lift it make more work and usually gets unplugged.
