Hi guys. I have a fused spur connected to a under worktop plug for dishwasher. All was working well. But then I turned the fused spur switch off to test it killed the dishwasher (it did). But now the switch appears to be stuck in the off position? Nothing tripped on the consumer unit. Does the 13amp fused replacing? I
No the spur needs replacing,if this is not a wind up about the fuse. Sometimes the switch will switch will switch back on, but better to replace the unit.
Yeah. Seen this before. Replace switch. You may find its a little burnt out or something when you get around to replacing. Dust and dirt can jam them up to.
Thanks will do. It's a brand new one though. Very strange Replaced it with another I had and all seems well
O dear O dear... It was! They are all LAP for l the kitchen! They are the only ones on the slate effect she liked!
You can look forward to a life of replcements.......... Better to look for another make to replace them with, IMO
LAP is not a make that I supply to me customers. I gave only had one experience of them, and that was when the customer insisted on supplying the bloomin things. had 3 failures, but it was the customer's problem. LAP is made in China specifically - at a low margin - I believe for Kingfisher Group (,Screwfix, B&Q) You'll not find them in places where electricians go for quality products. Look on the net for LAP reliability. There's several trade comments. You may be ok. Good luck.
Thanks for all your help. I'll give it a go, if they fail I'll take them back! Screwfix seem fairly good with things like that
I've got Lap switches and stuff in my utility room, one of them is a switched fcu which gets operated on and off on a regular basis. There is no evidence of contact malfunction or whatever, although admittedly the loading is only 150 watts. The unit has been in place for some what 3yrs and it is still working normally as is all the other Lap stuff. Dont use lap normally though, I always use Schneider (GET) stuff in main house.
