Hi I've just had a wall taken down to make a new kitchen and an RSJ installed to support the wall above. The beam is 4m long and a 178x102x19 UB. It sits on brick piers that have three courses of engineering bricks on top. The builders have packed slate between the top of the top engineering brick and the beam to get the level right. From a structural point of view, is this alright, or would steel shims be better? Thanks Sp2fr2
