    Guys
QUick question, the hexagonal surface area in question. Which direction to lay the membrane without much wastage.

I Am going to cover area with 20mm gravel. Will it still require a membrane to go underneath?

Also is 100 GSM thickness a good membrane to go for?

Does membrane need to be pinned into the ground if gravel is going on top of it?

    Thanks

Me neither, if he laying gravel on top, then a geotextile fabric would be a better choice than a membrane, which is plastic sheet(DPM).

They would stop it being caught and pulled up through the gravel, but if you put 50mm of gravel on it should hold it down.

I would fold edges under a 100mm or so, so you don't have any frayed edges that may rip or even come up through the gravel.

Don't use screws - the membrane/fabric will wrap around them as you insert them - nails just punch through and keep going.

Can't tell from photo, but if same as the Apollo HD fabric in Wickes, then it will be 105GSM & have a 10 year warrenty against rot.

Some builder merchants do sell geotextile by the metre, a fiver or less a metre, & it's 4.5mtrs wide, so no joins.
