I have recently moved in to a new house and the front yard had stones all over it.
After some investigation I found there was paving slabs under them so I have taken up all the stones and then found that some of the slabs had been painted black!!! I have tried paint stripper , scraping , turps and wire brush nothing will take up this paint does anyone have any ideas what will remove the paint?

You sure it's paint, most paint stripper would make some impression on the paint.

See what WD40 does to a small area.

Could be a bitumen based product, jetwash any good.

Yer tried jet wash some was coming up then whats left is the stuff that wouldn't come up, might have to just paint it with a light colour, not sure why they would of painted a floor black

Have you tried bleach, paint one slab with Domestos laid on thickly and leave overnight, power wash it off the next day, maybe lucky.

Might work, could also try a brick cleaner might remove the crud, something like Cementone a
Brick & Patio Cleaner, this is quite mild compared to some brick cleaners.
But, do wear gloves & eye protection if using bleach or patio cleaner.

If the paint(?) has pententated then I can’t see any chemical fixing it.

If it hasn’t, then angle grinder with wire (if you feel gentle) or diamond grinder (if life’s too short).
